During the holidays, we open our homes to family and friends – offering the perfect opportunity to finally knock those Pinterest to-dos off your list! Help your home make a welcoming first impression with AHRN.com’s favorite entry way inspirations.
Use The Wall Space
A key part of organizing your entry way is using the space effectively. Aimee Weaver of My Pink Life found a creative way to do that with crates mounted to the wall and pretty baskets. You could use these baskets to store bags, hats, children’s shoes or anything else that needs to be easily accessible while avoiding cluttering your entry way.
Go Vertical From The Floor
With many military families renting, options that don’t require mounting to the wall are needed. The same crates used in the wall hanging could be used on the floor to capture the bits and pieces that pile up near the door.
Rethink the closet
While the an entry way closet can keep coats out of the way – it has be to used to do its job. Increase the fun and make it possible for small children to hang their own coats by removing the rod and using hooks. Bonus? The rod can easily be replaced when you move out!
Closet Serves Double Duty
If you need to contain the mess of an active, busy life your entry way closet can pull double duty with storage as well. A couple shelves, bins and hooks offer a new way to contain the clutter. This set up was built from easy to find storage components. The vertical divider and second row of hooks offer effective ways to store coats and jackets while the additional shelves provide the option to put mail and paper clutter behind a closed door.
Get The Look
If you like the look of built in bench and hutch entry ways but renting makes it not an option – get the look without the construction like Leah did at Grace Lee Cottage. A small bench (which can be made from a sideways shelf), a wall mounted row of hooks or a shelf and a little DIY can give you both the storage and style without the need to go built-in.
