Introduction

The coronavirus pandemic has greatly impacted military families and their communities and is permanently shifting the way that we interact with the world around us. With the current regulations on social distancing for both communities and businesses alike, there has been an increased need to help veterans combating depression, isolation, and loss of income during the COVID-19 crisis. Businesses and organizations around the world are implementing creative solutions to digitally support those in time of need when they can’t physically gather together. In this spirit, we at AHRN.com and MyBaseGuide have proudly partnered with Wounded Warrior Project to promote their Carry Forward Virtual 5K delivered by CSX. This virtual run event will allow you to get in a workout, fundraise for a great cause, and do it all while sticking to proper social distancing guidelines.

The Carry Forward 5K

Wounded Warrior Project is known far and wide as one of the most proactive organizations aimed at honoring and empowering the men and women who’ve borne the heaviest brunt of defending our nation’s ideals. And their Carry Forward 5K is an amazing way that all of us can lend them a hand and maintain social distancing at home while doing it.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Register to participate.
  2. Plan out your 5k virtual run event including date and location.
  3. Set your fundraising goal.
  4. Start raising money! Reach out to friends, family, coworkers, and the like to ask them to contribute. Or to run their own Carry Forward.
  5. Run! Use your treadmill. Find a track or field near you. Hit the running path in the local park. Anywhere you can practice social distancing for your 5k in is a place you can Carry Forward.

For the ultimate show of support for our wounded warriors, There are two special ways to show your support while you run or walk at Carry Forward:

  • Flag – Carry a flag to show support and patriotism.
  • Fitness – Carry a weight (a rucksack or vest, for example) to represent the responsibility veterans carry.

However you decide to join in, know you’re doing it to honor the wounded, whether it’s a tribute to a specific veteran you know or for all of them.

That’s all there is to it. The virtual aspect makes this Carry Forward 5K extra flexible, so it’s all up to you how, when, and where you get to work up a sweat and help our country’s heroes.

Mission in Motion

People in all 50 states have already pledged their support and every dollar raised goes into their never-ending work to honor and empower America’s wounded warriors. Running the Carry Forward 5K is a way for you to quite literally put that mission in motion. It’s a real, tangible activity you can do that allows Wounded Warrior Project to continue to fulfill their purpose and aid so many of our nation’s bravest.

Every dollar you raise by carrying out this mission in motion goes right to funding WWP’s own mission. By donating, fundraising, or spreading the word, you can help our warriors get back on track and become a positive force in their communities. Your money goes right where it’s needed in order to help vulnerable veterans receive mental health care to deal with depression and PTSD, physical training to help with their injury recovery, finding fulfilling jobs after the military, and more.

AHRN.com and MyBaseGuide

As companies dedicated to assisting the military community beyond helping them find great homes, learn about their next base, and PCS with ease, we at AHRN.com and MyBaseGuide are proud to support the Carry Forward 5K. In 2019, we contributed $7,500 worth of media to the program and set up a booth at their Nashville event. And this year we plan to help even more. Not only will we support the Virtual Nashville 5K, but we’ve contributed $10,000 worth of media. This is alongside $5,000 worth of social media posts and Military Appreciation Month ads promoting Wounded Warrior Project we proudly displayed alongside our own content.

Conclusion

Now more than ever is a time to reach out and show support for our warrior brothers and sisters. A time to demonstrate in ways no matter how big or small, just how much we care about the wounded members of our big military family, how willing and ready we are to carry some of their weight when they need it most. So hit the field/track/treadmill/backyard for your virtual run event, earn yourself some endorphins, and raise some cash for a great cause all at the same time.
