What are the best neighborhoods?

Edmonds, Mukilteo and Mill Creek are all good options based on your priorities. It is important to consider desired commute time as the the North Seattle Traffic on the south side of Everett can be considerable!

What schools are considered the best?

There are several highly rated schools within easy driving distance of NAS Everett – although it is important to look at the individual school, as ratings can vary considerably. Mukilteo High School is rated a 10 by GreatSchools.org, Silver Lake Elementary School and Eisenhower Middle School are listed as 9 and 8 out of 10 respectively. Is there anywhere traffic is especially bad?

I-5 traffic coming out of Seattle lives up to the NorthWest’s reputation for gridlock traffic.

Can I get off post for lunch?

Yes, there are convenient options but they are mostly fast food.

Depending on where you live and how much you coupon, the commissary, Safeway, Top Foods and Albertsons are all options!

For a casual dinner out, try Brooklyn Bros Pizza – and don’t forget to sign the graffiti wall! Get a taste of the Islands with Bobby’s Hawaiian Style Restaurant, which was featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

Where do you like to do your clothes/home shopping?

Seattle has everything you could possibly want – including several very nice malls, outlets and the famous Pike Place Market with it’s nearby boutique shops.

Where do you go if you want to grab a coffee with friends and relax?

There are coffee shops everywhere! You can even drive into Seattle and check out the ORIGINAL Starbucks.

Best spot for a date night?

The Majestic Cafe is a local date night favorite. There is also the option to drive into Seattle or spend an evening enjoying Alki Beach.

What do you LOVE about your duty station?

The Northwest is gorgeous and there is so much to do – Seattle and Vancouver are within easy driving distance. There are opportunities to visit islands in the Puget Sounds, whale watching, hiking, skiing and snowboarding.

What else would you tell your friend who has just received orders?

Don’t let the jokes about the rain scare you! A little drizzle doesn’t hurt and the summers are breathtaking!
