Improve Your Real Estate Business Productivity

As we head into the busy moving season, take steps now to improve your real estate business productivity.

For many real estate professionals, there always seems to be more on the to do list than there are hours in the day. Maximizing your success means focusing your energy and time on the parts of your business that you can control.

Developing New Business

When you look at your calendar, is there any time dedicated to growing your business? Just like you, your business needs “me time” where the focus is not on your current clients but the future of your business. No matter how busy you are today, continued success means developing new business by connecting with potential and future clients. Whether you are working on a social media campaign, calling warm leads or attending newcomer events at your local military installation, make an appointment with the future of your business and keep it.

Work To The Task

There are some things that have to happen – listings need to be updated, clients need to be contacted, and phone calls need to be made. It is so easy to let time get filled by the random “in between tasks” like checking Facebook between phone calls. Make a list of tasks that have to get done and work through your list without distractions. You may be amazed at how much quicker it can be completed. You’re not the only one struggling with the flood of information – it’s so common that there is an array of software and apps available to help limit distraction from social media.

You can also:

  • Have a written to-do list. The act of writing it out and checking it off helps!
  • Close your office door when working on one of those must-do tasks.
  • Use the full screen option on your computer until you’re done without having other open windows or tabs.
  • Check email at set times during the day and leave it alone in between.
  • For tasks requiring focus, don’t sit at a desk next to another real estate agent if possible.
Have A Plan

A popular saying claims that “failing to plan means you plan to fail” and it’s certainly true when it comes to business. Having a plan to follow helps you to articulate your goals and identify the daily tasks that will bring you closer to meeting them!

Know When To Delegate

Whether you have an office full of staff or work independently, doing everything yourself is not the best use of your time or talents. There are many tasks that need to get done for your business to thrive that don’t require YOU. Managing your email list, creating social media content, and updating files can all be delegated. If you do not have office staff, consider hiring a virtual assistant.
